DETROIT POLICE

LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPLORERS

Who Are We?

The Detroit Police Law Enforcement Explorers program is an educational, career-focused, and special interest initiative designed to cater to the developmental needs and aspirations of young individuals aged 10 to 19. Our structured programming provides Explorers with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the day-to-day operations of the Detroit Police Department, fostering skill development and a deep understanding of the law enforcement field. Many Explorers who participate in this program go on to join law enforcement, solidifying its effectiveness in preparing individuals for careers in this challenging and rewarding profession.

Recognized nationally, the Exploring program is a work-site based experience associated with Learning for Life and the Boy Scouts of America, with the Detroit Police Department as a dedicated partner since 1972. Funding for this program is made possible through the generous support of the Detroit Public Safety Foundation, ensuring the continuation of our mission to empower and instill confidence in the youth of Detroit while nurturing their leadership potential through hands-on experiences in the world of law enforcement.

The Detroit Police Department proudly supports the Detroit Police Law Enforcement Explorers Program, shaping tomorrow's leaders and strengthening our community.

The Detroit Public Safety Foundation stands firmly behind the Detroit Police Law Enforcement Explorers Program, championing youth leadership and community engagement for a safer Detroit.
